LARGEST SWAMP. The pantanal in the states of Mato Grasso in Brazil is the world’s largest tract of swamp , covering an area of 42000 miles (109000km2). The diverse areas of the swamp include rivers and lakes , seasonally flooded grassland, forests and wetlands. During the wet season, heavy topical rains cause the Pantanal water to overflow, flooding and area roughly the size of Cuba. During the region’s dry season, the floodwaters recede and leave behind a rich landscape of lake, forest and lagoon.
LONGEST NECKS. The maximum known extension of a human neck is 15.75 in (40cm) and was created by the successive fitting of copper coils, as practiced by the women of the Padaung or Kareni tribe of Myanmar as a sign of beauty. Their necks eventually become so long and weak that they cannot support their heads without the coils. In some tribes the coils are removed to punish women who have committed adultery.
LONGEST EARS ON A RABBIT. Measured 79 cm (31.125 in) in a complete span on November 1, 2003 at the American Rabbit Breeders Association National Show in Wichita, Kansas, USA. The ears belong to an English Lop called Nipper's Geronimo who is owned by Waymon and Margaret Nipper of Bakersfield, California, USA.
