Voting is a method for a group such as a meeting or an electorate to make a decision or express an opinion often following discussions, debates, or election campaigns. It is often found in democracies, republics and also now days in universities.
In UniKL MICET we also have our election for the leader that should lead the students. They are called Jabatan Perwakilan Mahasiswa also known as JPM. This election is open to all students and the body is purposed for students voice being heard by the UniKL MICET's administrator. One of our classmate have bravely run for this election. And by all the support of his football teamates, his class mates and his beautiful girlfriend Dayah, Ahmad Syafiq Ahmad Fuad won a chair in this organisation! He is now the head of Curricular Activities. Though he is not the head of the JPM, Ahmad Syafiq is certainly a leader that can hear the students voice and fight for the students rights.
A different scenario happen in University Putra Malaysia, the students body called PRO-M (PRO Mahasiswa) turned ugly when a sudden canceling of the body is done by one of the Deputy Dean. Supporters of the PRO-M supplanted through the University's office glass doors and a few of guard and workers were hurt by this action. Here is the news article by THE STAR;
PETALING JAYA: The campus elections are over in 19 public universities but the “fever” continued to rage at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM).
Chaos reigned when 10 out of the 11 Pro-Mahasiswa candidates who won seats on the university’s student representative council were told on Tuesday that they had been disqualified.
Students staged a vigil on Tuesday night and continued with fiery protests outside the main administrative building for most of yesterday.
The disqualified students were then reinstated before 2pm but continued to protest, demanding a personal apology from UPM deputy vice-chancellor (student affairs and alumni) Prof Dr Fauzi Ramlan.
Prof Fauzi said he would not press charges against the students who smashed a glass door at the main administrative building.
While Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin advised the elected student leaders to fulfill their mandate, his deputy Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah asked that the campus election results be recognized.

KUALA LUMPUR: Masturah Abu Bakar, a candidate in the University of Malaya Students Representative Council (MPPUM) election, who went missing last Friday, won the election yesterday.
In the election, Pro-Mahasiswa, which was also represented by Masturah, 22, emerged as the winner with 23 seats out of the total 41 seats contested while Penggerak Mahasiswa won the other 18 seats.
Pro-Mahasiswa swept all the nine general seats and 14 faculty seats while Penggerak Mahasiswa only won 18 faculty seats.
The MPPUM offered 43 seats to be filled by general representatives and faculty representatives but two seats were not contested because the Undergraduate Studies Institute (IPS) did not have any candidate resulting in the number of seats contested being reduced to 41.

Twelve faculty candidates won uncontested in the election.
UM deputy vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Rohana Yusof said the election was held to choose 41 more representatives to fill all the 52 seats to represent all the 28,000 students.
She said polling started at 9am yesterday and all the polling centres at 18 locations in the UM campus were closed at 5pm.
She told reporters that the voter turnout was 67.1 per cent which was short of the 70 per cent targeted.
Meanwhile, Masturah who was found at midnight last night after having gone missing since Friday, was present at the Akademi Pengajian Melayu to cast her vote at about 1pm accompanied by her parents.
At a media conference after the election, her mother, Mariam Abdul Rashid, 51, said she did not rule out the possibility that the disappearance of her daughter had something to do with the election but declined to make any assumption.
Masturah, who was also present at the press conference, however declined to give any statement.
Mariam said Masturah, a student at the university’s Akademi Pengajian Islam, was found at about 12.20 yesterday morning near Masjid Teras Jernang in Bangi in a weak condition after having gone missing since Friday while going out to top up her pre-paid card at Pangsapuri Pantai Permai in Pantai Dalam, here.
These stories clearly show that students these days are getting more and more aggressive. Picture this, the student election is just a minor voting system, and it is already a chaos. imagine how the future governess election is going to be???
